The Audible version of Surrogate Colony is now available. Why did I chose Elizabeth Peterson, a female, as the voice actress?  The answer is that there is an issue with representation in literature, especially  Science Fiction, Cyberpunk literature. Science Fiction is dominated by male voices and male characters. In my debut novel, Surrogate Colony, which is a Science Fiction Cyberpunk novel, I use a strong female voice as the main character. Adriana is also an unusual character. She is of mixed race, she has a ‘physical defect’ and she has a mind of her own. She doesn’t shrink because of her differences, she uses them to feed her curiosity and ultimately to become a powerful player in the outcome of the novel. After all, I didn’t want my novel to perpetuate history and isn’t it about time we give the female voice the power it is due?
